New Member of the Burnley Writers XI
"News has broken on the official club site that Brendan Flood has a new book out, writes Couch Potato in his first official Vital Burnley article,
'Published by TH Media and priced £9.99, it is called Big Club, Small Town and Me
, with the author`s byline as Brendan Flood, Businessman and Burnley Football Club Director. Across the bottom of the claret cover is a blue banner containing the words 'Epic Story of Burnley`s Meteoric Rise to the Premiership` and beneath it there`s a black and white photo of a very young Clarets side with just one player picked out in colour… a powerful reminder that Brendan is not only a key director and lifetime fan, but also someone who has worn the shirt on merit as a young player.
The most important thing to say is that all Brendan`s proceeds will be donated to the Burnley F.C. Youth Academy at Gawthorpe and further strengthen the club`s long term youth development strategy. So there are powerful reasons to get down to the club shop or go online at www.llamapr.co.uk and buy a copy, even if we are all skint after desperately trying to keep up with ticket prices in places like Chelsea and after a 61-game-season strain on the personal finances.
Signed hardbacks and paperbacks are available at these two places. I don`t know whether you can order unsigned copies through your local bookstore, or even through Amazon; but the amount of money that gets to Gawthorpe via Brendan will probably be more if you buy online or at the club shop.
There`s a great supportive quote by Tony Livesey on the club site, where (and this could be the big news!) we are given some hard evidence that Brendan does actually read what we the fans write…because there, on the official club site, it says that this book is 'an opportunity for fans to relive the most incredible year of their times supporting Burnley - and to quash or confirm the rumours that peppered the fans internet forums`.
So, since you are reading this Brendan, thanks for everything. Keep the story going, keep us up to date and look after yourself and everyone at Burnley Football Club. Cheers, pal. Us first time writers have to stick together. And honest, I am going to buy a copy.
Meanwhile, Brendan becoming an author causes me to offer this Burnley Writers XI:
