'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Burnley 3 PNE 1

Jensen 6 Should be claiming balls 3 yards from the goal line - especially a man of his size!

Duff 6 Looked to be a bit off the pace, and still think he is a better CB.

Carlisle 8 Formed a solid CB partnership against the less than mobile front two.

Caldwell 9 See above - and a goal gets a bonus mark!

Jordan 8 Still sad that he is one mistake away from being booed by some 'fans'. A good game.

Alexander 9 I take it all back, Grezza, and I'm sorry. Looks far better here than at RB.

Joey 7 - Great goal. Thought he struggled at times, as did the midfield. Prefer KMc still.

McCann 9* Awesome. 90 minutes of effort and skill. Great pass for 3rd. Never gave them peace in the second half.

Elliott 6 A quiet game for me. Struggling to fit into this new system. Time for a rest with Eagles slotting into that position, perhaps?

Thompson 8 Links the play well, and nearly scored his first goal with a first half header.

Paterson 6 Poor miss early on seemed to drain his confidence - body language quite poor in second half - can't afford to sulk. Maybe got a bit of a knock in he second half? He will come again.

Eagles 8 Quality player. Cool finish: that's what money buys you: class. Won't forget his red, but surely now he is forgiven?

Rodriguez 6 Not much of an impact, but did OK.

Blake 6 See Jay

OC 9 Shuffled the pack well, and fair play to him with the subs he made - didn't think he'd do that once we had gone two up. Bit risky having no defenders on the bench?

Referee 8 Did well overall. One or two penalty shouts at both ends, and could have given out one or two yellow cards, but seemed to handle the derby atmosphere and occasion sensibly. What, no cards for Burnley?!

You can see some dilemmas facing Coyle regarding team selection soon especially in midfield. The big one for me is Eagles, does he/should he get a starting eleven place now and who would he replace and what happens when Kevin McDonald is fit? I think it would be harsh to drop Joey, McCann grows with every game. Maybe at the moment Elliott is the weakest link? Hardly a case of you are the weakest link, goodbye though and then we have Blake even Mahon waiting in the wings rather than on them!
