Trippier arrived on a season-long loan from Manchester City in July 2011. The Bury-born 20 year old is already an England Under 21 international but has still to make his City debut.

Trippier made a one month loan move to Barnsley in February 2010 and then returned to Oakwell for a second spell on loan in August 2010 before extending this to a loan until the end of the season in January 2011.

He is widely expected to take over the right back position vacated by Tyrone Mears and will play with his City team mate Ben Mee in the back four. Trippier made his debut for the Clarets in the pre-season friendly against Oldham at Boundary Park on the same day he signed for the club.

On the 3rd January 2012, Trippier signed on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee after penning a 3.5 year deal.
