Bartley signed from Bournemouth on the final day of the January transfer window in 2011. He played for a number of non-league clubs before signing for Bournemouth in the summer of 2007 including Burnham, Hayes, Didcot Town and Hampton & Richmond Borough.
It is thought Burnley submitted an original bid in the region of £300,000 before it was rejected Former Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe then came in with an improved offer which the Cherries reluctantly accepted after Bartley made it clear he wanted to leave Dean Court.
