Charlie Austin signed for Burnley from Swindon on 28 January 2011, penning a three-and-a-half-year contract. He made his Burnley debut on 1 February in a 1-0 defeat at the Keepmoat away to Doncaster Rovers.

Swindon was his first professional club after playing in non-league football since 2004 following his time as a youth player with Reading. He joined Swindon in October 2009 following a trial and scored 31 goals in 54 appearances for them.

It was the Championship's third highest scorer by the end of a 2012-13 and might easily have achieved 30 goals had he not succombed to appendicitis towards the end of the season.

He had been widely expected to join newly promoted Premier League club, Hull City in the summer of 2013 for 4.5 million but a late failed medical highlighting a knee problem scuppered his chances and the deal fell through.

Queens Park Rangers though signed striker Charlie Austin for an undisclosed fee on the 1st August 2013. He agreed a three-year contract at Loftus Road.
