Under controversial circumstances which angered many fans, Fox was sold to Southampton for an undisclosed fee believed to be about £1.8 million on the 11th August 2011.
The season was already underway and there was little time to find a replacement in the summer transfer window which was due to close at the end of the month.
The transfer has been dubbed, by the board, as one they "could not refuse", but is only worth only £300,000 more than they offered Celtic on signing him in January 2010, with two years still to serve on that contract.
"I`m very disappointed to see Danny go," said manager, Eddie Howe at the time with speculation flying he had fallen out with the Board and was angered by the decision
"He has been a very consistent performer for us.
"To lose another player at this stage of the season is a big blow to us, but the board received an offer they felt they could not turn down, so we have to accept that, although it`s far from ideal."
