Peruvian International keeper,Diego Penny signed a three-year deal at Turf Moor for an undisclosed fee in June 2008 following a successful work permit appeal.

Penny was born in Lima and made over 150 appearances for Coronel Bolognesi in the Peru Primera Division and has also been captain of the side. The club were also winners of the Clausara league in 2007. The 6ft 5 stopper has also been involved in Peru's attempt to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.

Penny's full name is actually Diego Alonso Penny Valdez

He however made just four appearances for the Clarets over the two years since Owen Coyle signed him and in August 2010 had his contract terminated by mutual consent. The 26 year old's contract still had a just under a year to go but Brian Laws was brutally honest during the Summer of 2010 stating that the Peruvian international keeper was not where they wanted him to be at this stage. With the arrival also of Lee Grant making Penny the third-choice keeper his departure came as no surprise.

Diego returned to his homeland of Peru and is now trying to resurrect his career over there.
