Albanian International striker Besart Berisha joined the Clarets from Hamburg SV in July 2007 for 340,000. He was signed by former gaffer, Steve Cotterill after impressing and scoring for Albania in their International game against England B at Turf Moor that summer.

He was then dealt a cruel blow, picking up cruciate ligament damage whilst playing for his country in an International friendly against Malta. The injury kept him out of the whole of the 2007-8 season.

Finally he played for the Clarets on their pre-season US tour in July 2008. He also scored a wonder goal in the friendly against Accrington Stanley at the Fraser Eagle stadium beating three defenders to unleash a powerful shot.Although born in Kosova, Besart Berisha received Albanian citizenship in September 2006

It was clear that under Owen Coyle there was no room for the winger with both Wade Elliott and Chris Eagles ahead of him in the pecking order.

During his time with Burnley he had two spells out on loan, first to Rosenborg in the autumn of 2008 and then to AC Horsens in January 2009. He returned to Burnley in May 2009 and still had a contract with the club until 2010.

In the summer of 2009 however he was reported to be having a three-day trial with Arminia Bielefeld in the second tier of German football..

It was thought he would be out on loan again during the 2009/10 season although many Clarets were wondering whether they would ever see Berisha play for the first-team in Claret & Blue. The answer to that would be no!

The Clarets agreed to sell Berisha to Arminia Bielefeld in July 2009 and he has now signed a three year contract with them.

Arminia Bielefeld who have been tracking Berisha for some time were originally unable to meet the asking price but a compromise was reached and it was understood that the 24 year old joined the German club for a reported 75,000.
