Refused the offer of a new one-year contract in Summer 2010 despite being given an option of a one year extension if he made 20 starts in 2010-11.

Appeared to be holding out for a two-year deal and had discussions with SPL club, Hearts but in the end joined Owen Coyle's Bolton in June 2010. He would now still be playing Premier League football following the Clarets relegation at the end of 2009-10 but in the end he still only signed a one-year deal at the Reebok

It was with a heavy heart that he left the Clarets for the second time but a lot of Clarets fans will be upset he decided to join the hated Coyle.
