The 28-year-old left the Clarets at the end of last season despite being offered a new contract,intimating other clubs were interested in his services.

He signed for Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer (Bosman) on the 27th June 2008

A three-year deal at Hillsborough was agreed after spending four years at Turf Moor.

Dublin-born O'Connor started his career in England with Stoke City and featured for West Brom as part of their promotion-winning team to the Premier League in 2004.
