Burnley 2 - Blackpool 2

Turf Moor

15th September 2007

Attendance: 16843

Tangerine Jam

Burnley faced Blackpool in this tense derby sharing the points in a 2-2 draw in front of 16843 fans .

The gaffer,Steve Cotterill made only one change from the side that beat Colchester 3-2 away a fortnight ago.Jon Harley replaced Alan Mahon. It is understood the midfielder was injured in the midweek reserve match away to Wrexham.

The Clarets were within a minute of taking all three points in this first League encounter at Turf Moor against the Seasiders for nearly eight years. Steve Jones who came on for Harley at the start of the second-half,put the Clarets ahead after 52 minutes, but this was wiped out when Blackpool were awarded a penalty after 73 minutes following a tackle from behind by Clarke Carlisle which was judged to be a foul on Morrell. Wes Hoolahan sent Jensen the wrong way to equalise.

Ade Akinbiyi who came on for Blake after 75 minutes continued his 'supersub' act scoring with a super shot after 86 minutes when a ball from Elliott found the striker, who turned and shot from six yards into the net much to the Clarets fans delight!

Just as we were looking forward to three points disaster struck on 90 minutes with Brian Jensen clearly at fault. The Beast came out for a ball but couldn't gather it Burgess then messed up his effort but Andy Morrell followed up and thumped in the equaliser.

Jammy Satsumas!

Blackpool are playing well at the moment but I thought you would get the points.
