29th September 2007

The Clarets return to League football this Saturday and take on Crystal Palace at Turf Moor. They wil be looking to put that midweek Carling Cup defeat against Pompey behind them and will be trying to consolidate their Top 6 position and move up the table.
Burnley are currently sixth on 11 points, just five points behind leaders Watford with a game in hand.
Palace have not had a good start to the season with only eight points from 7 matches and their gaffer, Peter Taylor is reported to be under some pressure. Lets hope the Eagles wont dare have the audacity to get three points tomorrow and move up from their current 15th position in the table!
We can expect a return to the more normal 4-4-2 tomorrow after the flirtation with 4-1-4-1 on Tuesday night against Premiership opposition.
Gray should be available after recovering from a foot infection and looks likely to partner Blake who was relegated to the bench for the Carling Cup match following his wife giving birth on Monday this week.
The midfield options could take some resolving now that Mahon appears to be fit again. He and James O'Connor were selected to play against Portsmouth. Alexander and Unsworth have also played in these more unfamiliar midfield roles recently and Joey Gudjonsson has been waiting in the wings, mainly from the bench. The only doubt is Chris McCann.
The team to be selected could be something like this:
Kiraly, Duff, Carlisle, Caldwell, Jordan, Mahon, Alexander, Elliot, Spicer, Gray, Blake
Subs from Jensen, Unsworth, Jones, Akinbiyi, Harley, James O,Connor, Gudjonsson
Come on lads its important we get three points in this first match of two back-to-back home games with Ipswich to follow on Tuesday night
'As a team, at the moment, we are doing ok. The really good thing about it is that we are not happy.
'Me, my staff and the players are not quite happy with everything, which means we are still bedding in really.
'The season is only six games old and all of a sudden we have Kiraly, Carlisle, Jordan, Alexander and Blake all who haven't started a season together.
'People seem to think Steven Caldwell has been here a long while, but he has hardly been here really.
'So there are six new names in important positions and they will take time to bed in.
'Problems always come with loss of form and injures. All those unexpected visitors that can slow you down a little but we just have to make sure that we jump high enough to avoid those obstacles.'
In the subject of the Eagles troubled manager, Peter Taylor, the gaffer had this to say:
'I think Peter has done a good job there. I keep reading about whether he is still going to be there or not and I don't know why we just don't get off people's backs and let them do the job.
'Somewhere a long the line it has been stirred up a little bit, but I like Peter. He is a good, football man and he just needs to be left alone.'
Andy Gray looks set to return after a foot infection but midfielder Chris McCann (hamstring) is a major doubt
He needs to get back on the score sheet following his foot injury
Striker Dougie Freedman has been ruled out with a groin injury. Midfielder Mark Kennedy has a calf injury and their winger Paul Ifill a hamstring injury Both are still not considered fit enough to return.
Lets hope this is one Eagle that doesnt soar on Saturday. He managed to score for Palace in their last match at home against Sheffield United in their 3-2 victory.
Back in March this year, we could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Palace as we continued that awful 19 match winless run.
Berkshire referee Trevor Kettle will be brewing things up at Turf Moor this Saturday.
