'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sheffield Wednesday vs. Burnley

Turf Moor

18th September 2007

7:45pm

Wednesday on Tuesday

The Clarets face bottom club, Sheffield Wednesday away tonight at Hillsborough. The lads will be hoping for three points after that disappointing draw with Blackpool at home last Saturday. We are currently in 10th place, five points behind the leaders with a game in hand. The Owls firmly rooted to the bottom of the Championship have yet to get a point! Why does that sound ominous for the Clarets?

The big questions for the team selection revolve around Lafferty & Mahon. Kyle Lafferty returns after a three match ban but will a place be found for him in the team ,with the Gray/Blake partnership in full swing and supersub Ade waiting in the wings?

Andy Gray picked up a gash to the leg in the last match but is still expected to be the main striker tonight.

Alan Mahon missed the Blackpool game with a thigh strain but has been in training and could be selected to play if fit.

Steve Says:

'I would expect Kyle will be champing at the bit. He would like to play all the while, I would imagine and when the suspension came through he was upset about it.

'Somewhere along the lines though, young players get taught hard lessons and he was taught one.'

'Andy had quite a nasty knock (on Saturday). It was a stone wall penalty and his sock was full of blood, but I think he will be okay.

'He had a non-contact morning on Monday, but I'm sure he'll be fine.'

Sheffield Wednesday Team News:

Peter Gilbert looks set to make a return to Sheffield Wednesday's defence after recovering from a spate of injuries.

Wade Small could also start.

Player to watch: Francis Jeffers.

Not a threat so far this season but watch out for him!

Burnley Team News:

Lafferty back after suspension. Is Mahon available?

Beast made a mess of things to let Blackpool equalise in the final minute last Saturday. Kiraly might be the preferred choice

Player to watch: Andy Gray

Andy Gray on five goals so far, could get a brace tonight
