Update on Pre-season Friendlies

Here is a list of the confirmed friendly games with dates some of these previously announced

The first team squad will play the following games:

Altrincham (A) Moss Lane on Saturday 21st July Kick-Off 3pm

Bury (A) Gigg Lane Tuesday 24th July Kick-Off 3pm

South West Tour-Finalised details are awaited but it is understood that Eddie Howe will take his squad to Bath for the tour between July 30th and August 4th. They are expected to have two games, including one against Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road.

Rochdale (A) Spotland Tuesday 7th August Kick-Off 7:30pm

It is highly likely we will also have one game at Turf Moor on the Saturday before the new season kicks off but as yet there has been no confirmation so watch this space!

The development squad too will be in action with four games scheduled. The first will be against Mossley at Seel Park on Saturday 14th July (Kick-Off 3pm). They then face a trip to Barrow five days later on Thursday 19th (Kick-Off 7pm)

They will also travel to Alfreton on Saturday 28th July and then Droylsden on Saturday 4th August. Both games will kick-off at 3pm. Clearly Burnley have taken advantage of their close relationship with the latter three following loan spells for some of our players at these clubs last season

Both Alex-Ray Harvey and Joe Jackson had spells at Barrow, Jon Stewart played towards the end of last season at Alfreton and Dave Lynch had a loan spell at Droylsden earlier in the season.

Some more announcements:

The Clarets will play Bath City and visit Accrington Stanley as part of their preparations for the new season.

Eddie Howe will take his side to Twerton Park to face Bath on Tuesday, 31 July (kick-off 7.30pm) as part of a week-long training trip to the south west.

The Burnley boss is keen to repeat last season’s warm-up in and around Bath with a further fixture still to be confirmed. (Editor's Note: Thought to be Cheltenham at Whaddon Rd)

Admission prices for the game against City, who have just been relegated from the Blue Square Premier, will be £10 adults and £5 concessions.

Nearer to home, a Burnley XI will take on an Accrington Stanley XI as a testimonial for long-serving former Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell.

The game will take place at the Crown Ground on Wednesday, 18 July (kick-off 7.30pm).

Further details and admission prices will be announced in due course.

Burnley pre-season fixtures:

Accrington Stanley XI (A), Wednesday, 18 July (7.30pm)

Altrincham (A), Saturday, 21 July (3pm).

Bury (A), Tuesday, 24 July (7.45pm).

Bath City (A), Tuesday, 31 July (7.45pm)

Confirmed there will now be no home pre-season friendly...

First time in many a season I can remember this happening although we did play in Galpharm v Stoke (classed as home tie) whilst Turf Moor pitch was being sorted out two pre-seasons ago

Accy game cancelled! Bad weather and sodden pitch means they won't have Crown Ground ready in time! Same old, same old!!

So now pre-season first team squad schedule reads:

Altrincham (A), Saturday, 21 July (3pm).

Bury (A), Tuesday, 24 July (7.45pm).

Bath City (A), Tuesday, 31 July (7.30pm)

Cheltenham Town (A), Saturday 4 August (3pm )

Rochdale (A) Tuesday, 7 August (7.30pm).

Really,really is TOTALLY uninspiring!!

Have to agree on the pre-season friendlies surely we could have thrown a Championship side at least in there to see where we are at and to test out the new boys?

Can't seem to find anything for the Altrincham commentary wise....Bury will be a better bet since they had it on Bury Player last year.
