Old Firm battle for Lafferty

It would appear that some the tabloids today are suggesting Rangers now want Lafferty.Rangers are set to put in £4 million offer including striker Alan Gow.

The 25-year-old joined Rangers in the close season from Falkirk on a Bosman deal but hasnt had chance to make much impression playing only twice so far this season.

He previously played for Clydebank and Airdrie United. Owen Coyle will know him from his days at Airdrie.

The Clarets reportedly turned down an offer from Celtic yesterday of £2.5 million plus Derek Riordan for Lafferty although no official announcements have been made by the club.

Brendan Flood was quoted as saying clubs would need to offer £4 million plus for Lafferty and this latest offer from Rangers if true could be seriously tempting to the club.

If this is true the bid is certainly tempting. There would be no loss in squad numbers plus the hefty £4 million could be useful for squad building in the summer or for upping bids for current players before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

This really is getting to be silly money now and very tempting I would think. Lafferty I believe also supports Rangers, so it could be difficult holding onto him if the player wants to go or indeed if we want to even keep him at that price.
