Duff could Play as soon as February

Duff could Play as soon as February

Michael Duff suffering from a long-term injury after sustaining cruciate ligament damage has received some excellent news that will also cheer the hearts of Clarets fans.

He last played for the Clarets against Crystal Palace at Turf Moor back in September and was seriously injured in that game

We then all heard the grim news that the cruciate ligament damage could mean our Northern Ireland International defender would miss the rest of the season. Later in 2007 however we did hear the encouraging news that Duff was making an amazing recovery and could be ready in under 4 months time.

Today the Official Site have announced that he is back in training with the first team and could be fit enough to play in under a month's time.

This is great news for all Clarets fans and even better for Duff himself who had to be content with winning the North West Championship Player of the Year Award for 2006/7 whilst being sidelined with injury.

It also sounds like our other player suffering from cruciate ligamant damage, Besart Berisha is also making steady progress with the announcement he is now back in light training.

Looks like both Duff & Bersiha could feature this season after all. What a formidable squad we would be if we now added the 3-4 targets to the list in the Jan transfer window!

Yep but all these good news stories are covering the fact that Coyle said he would have "closure" by the end of yesterday!!!! It's now nearly the middle of today and still no news! Very Happy that Duff is on the mend though be good to have him back! We still need to see what Berisha can do!

Rather scathing comments from someone replying to an LT article: BFC = BRENDAN FLOOD COMEDY. READING BETWEEN THE LINES THE INDICATORS ALL ALONG HAVE HINTED AT NO NEW SIGNINGS SO NO REAL SURPRISE ALL OF THE DEALS HAVE COLLAPSED. ADI AKINBIYI TALKED UP BY COYLE AND SEVERAL PLAYERS AS NATURAL SUCCESSOR TO ANDY GRAY. REPORTS LEAKED IN PAST FEW DAYS OF BERISHA AND DUFF RECOVERING WELL FROM INJURIES - BRENDAN FLOOD IS USING THE MEDIA WELL. WHAT HAPPENS IF INJURIES AND SUSPENSIONS HIT HARD IS ANOTHER MATTER. BRENDAN FLOOD HAS NO INTENTION OF THE CLUB PRESSING FOR THE PLAY-OFFS AND PROMOTION THIS SEASON EVEN THOUGH SEASON TICKET SALES WERE PROMOTED AND SOLD ON THAT UNDERSTANDING!!

Yeah pretty scathing!!!! It's not like we're bottom of the league! Hopefully we can challenge for promotion and at this rate we'll have to do it with the current small squad! It's worth remembering that they have got us this far and can play attractive football! We are just lacking a bit of pace at the back and an out and out goal scorer!

Yeah but lets think about the ambition thing here, we could miss out on promotion by a few points because of the small squad re injuries/suspensions/tiredness/loss of form we can expect. Surely to ensure nirvana we have to mean business and maximise our chances. £2 million at least at our disposal, how stupid would it be not to use it now, 4 points off the play-offs?

I totally agree that we need to spend some cash! I read that Gordon Strachan is annoyed at the inflated prices in January, let's hope he releases Riordan and we get someone else who hasn't been linked to us! I'll be slightly miffed if we miss out by 3 - 6 points! Or even 1 goal like the other year! 1 goal that Riordan could of scored would destroy the credability of the board
