Jones Not Changing at Crewe

Clarets gaffer, Owen Coyle has decided against letting Steve Jones return to Crewe on a one month loan deal despite allowing Steve Holland permission to talk to the Northern Ireland international .

Steve Jones came off the bench against Coventry for the last 10 minutes and put it an impressive perfomance.

Coyle is reported to have said this to the Burnley Express:

'He(Steve) has been in the 16 for every squad since I arrived, and I thought he played well on Saturday when he came on, and was unlucky not to score. He is part of my plans until deemed otherwise.'

In view of the current lack of transfer activity inwards, Owen Coyle is probably keen to add to his own squad before letting any more forward players leave Turf Moor after already losing Andy Gray to Charlton.

Crewe first team coach, Holland told the Official Crewe site:

"We tried to bring Steve in last week but that didn't prove successful and he was in Burnley's squad on Saturday.

"He got on towards the end and we have had reports that he picked up a knee injury. We do not know the full extent of that but that would scupper any possible deal at the moment."

I hope this is true, this seems a sensible decision and precaution considering our squad is getting smaller not larger at the moment

well let's hope he gets his shooting boots on!!!! Yeah i agree pretty sensible seeing as the squad is already depleted. Hope he scores and proves me wrong, more goals the better

He did sound to be making the effort at least in that 10min spell! Maybe the thought of going back to Crewe scared him into performing for us?

Good to hear that we aren't letting anyone else go before actually signing anyone ourselves but a tiny bit of me is a little sceptical...are we keeping hold of Jones because we aren't as close to any new signings as we might've hoped? Hopefully not!! Oh and hi all (this is my first post)!!
