Rumour Mill-Robson 750k?

The Mirror today suggests Burnley could make a shock 750,000 move for Dundee United captain Barry Robson. This is not the first time the club have been linked with the player and now of course we are flush with money after selling Gray to Charlton for 1.5 million last week.

Vital Burnley had previously reported that according to Sky Sports, Portsmouth, Ipswich and Burnley were tracking the Dundee United midfielder.

All three clubs were also believed to have representatives at Dundee United's Scottish Cup match against Clyde recently when Robson also scored the winning goal from distance.

Barry Robson is also understood to have a buy-out clause in his Tannadice contract fuelling all the speculation in the transfer window

Celtic and recently Newcastle have also been linked with the 29 year old.

Dundee United gaffer, Craig Levein fears losing the player and recently said:

''Of course I do [fear losing Robson].

'I'm the manager of the team and he is the best player. But nobody has made any offers and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.'

This rumour refuses to go away, and maybe with our extra dosh we can now secure his services, but if clubs like Celtic, Portsmouth and Newcastle are still in the frame, Coyle is going to have to sell little Burnley big-time

Just wondering who the hell the one cut&dried and deal done might be. Doesnt look like Robson yet and now Riordan seems out the picture. That leaves Lee, also denied by Ipswich and Whelan. Whelan is the most obvious but I thought we were getting a striker not midfielder/winger? Could be someone nobody has come up with yet. All very intriguing

I believe he scored a couple against them, to add to the one referred to above! Sounds like an attacking midfielder alright!!

Yeah he scored 2 on saturday against Aberdeen, so it looks like the guy knows how to score goals! 6 in 4 games ain't bad at all!

You just get the impression though if he really is too good to be true the likes of Pompey, Toons or even the Buoys will be far better placed to snap him up whilst we have no bargaining power whatsoever!

Sportsmail understands Burnley's bid included a series of add-on payments which would have taken the fee towards 1m, but which were dependent on how they fare in the Championship promotion race this season and beyond. The offer of a down payment of around 500,000 and more money later didn't impress the Tannadice club, who still hope to fetch up to 2million for the Scotland international.
