Burnley announced on Friday that the club had granted Andy Gray permission to speak to Charlton Athletic after agreeing a transfer fee of £1.5m rising to £2m with add on`s .

I don`t think this is a bad deal for Burnley seeing as Gray made it quite clear he wanted away from our beloved club and if we are to believe what we read Gray along with his Dad (His Agent) both contacted Owen Coyle on several occasions asking for Gray to be released to the former Premiership club.

In my opinion Gray hasn`t shown much form of late with his last goal coming against his new club Charlton in the Clarets Fantastic 1-3 win where Gray scored 2 goalsback on the 1st of December.

Owen Coyle made it quite clear that Gray`s successor would be appointed before the next home match against Scunthorpe on Saturday the 26th of Jan.

The rumour mill has been turning with the name of former Claret Alan Lee making the move back up North to join Burnley for a 2nd time, But after former Claret Paul Weller spoke to Lee via telephone on Friday before the Clarets kicked of against Coventry, Lee stated that neither he or the club knew anything about the move and Lee stated he`s more than happy to stay at Ipswich where he has just bought a new house with his girlfriend.

The player I`m hoping Owen Coyle has lined up as Gray`s replacement is Celtic`s Derek Riordan, But Coyle will have to offer more than double his first offer of £400k + add on`s for the Celtic striker as Gordon Strachan is said to be wanting £1m + for Riordan.

The situation is clear . There are shadows ofdoubt to the availablity ofLee . Having said that he is happy at his present club and having bought a new house explose the myth that he will ever join bURNLEY . pERSONALLY i DO NOT BELIEVE HIM .tHE DEAL HAS ALREADY BEEN STRUCK . As regards Riordan ,the gangatuan appetite ofCeltic will hinder the trander to be ever effected . It gives me the impression that the Celtic Manager has a grudge against the player and will prevent it from happening .

I just wonder if we cheesed them off when they were up for Lafferty and whether they were hoping for a cash/player deal with Riordan one way and Laffs the other
