Magilton on Lee Rumour

The East Anglian Daily Times now reports that Ipswich gaffer Jim Magilton has also denied that a deal has been done with the Clarets for the Tractor Boys striker,Alan Lee However he also admits that he would consider an offer if the Clarets were interested. So make of that what you will!

It would appear though that Ipswich have had an enquiry from Burnley and it was interesting that the 29-year old didn't start in Town's game yesterday at Blackpool although he did come on as second half substitute.

Magilton is quoted as follows:

"We have not had a bid for Alan Lee from Burnley, but I'm sure the phone will ring about him on Monday or Tuesday and if it does then we will have to consider it.

"I will consider offers for any of my players and if it is one I can't turn down then I won't."

The Clarets were reported in the local Burnley press to be willing to pay £900,000 for Lee after selling Andy Gray to Charlton for £1.5m.

There is also the possibility that Ipswich were willing to include Lee in their cash/player offer for Andy Gray before the Suffolk club realised that they could not match Hughie Gray's game to 'double his money' Sorry last time I will crack that joke!

This is apparantly in the Sunday Mirror if anybody can confirm-->Burnley have agreed a deal for Ipswich striker Alan Lee after selling Andy Gray to Charlton for £1.5m. Clarets boss Owen Coyle let Gray go when the Addicks upped their bid and will pay £1m for Lee. The Republic of Ireland forward, who had a short spell with the Clarets in 2000, has scored nine times for Ipswich this season. Gray's deal could net £2m for Burnley, depending on appearances.

Yeah it says that in the Mirror I saw it earlier. I just can't see it being Lee ;) Could be wrong though.

I dont think its Lee in terms of that deal for a player already cut&dried announced by Coyle. But I understand Flood announced on Radio Lancs last night that Lee was on the wanted list?

We have to wait again in what side the pendulum will strike . I am hopeful that in the long run ,Lee will join Burnley.

..and there's more Ipswich denials:Sheepshanks did not deny that any bid had been lodged for the Republic of Ireland international he insisted that no deal is done. He told the club's official website: "Contrary to newspaper reports I can confirm that we have not accepted a bid from Burnley for Alan. "Manager Jim Magilton spoke to the media after Saturday's game and told them exactly that, that no bid had been accepted from Burnley. "At this stage, that is exactly how it stands."
