Gray Skies in Burnley

This was the news many Clarets fans were dreading. Radio Lancashire have now confirmed the grim news.

Andy Gray will be leaving Burnley for the Addicks after the two clubs today agreed a £1.5 million transfer fee, which with add-ons could rise to £2 million.

Gray is now free to speak to the club and wont feature in the Coventry match on Saturday as he travels down to London to speak to Charlton and agree terms.

This is absolutely pathetic in my opinion and once again the Club seem hell bent on scuppering our promotion chances.

There are 13 days left in the transfer window to get our finger out and boost the squad and all we have heard so far is the word 'stalemate' from Owen Coyle.

We now sell our star striker and show no real resolve whatsoever to keep him. We will now get all the rubbish about this being a good business deal as no doubt the gates will continue to fall and we raise the ambition stakes to finish in midtable mediocrity again.

Very, very cheesed off and we better get a big name replacement as soon as possible otherwise we will be scraping the barrel looking for a Michael Ricketts look-alike!

Build a squad, not dismantle one! Now who said that recently?

Groundhog day.... Why is it we sell our best player in the jan window? Blake, Chaplow. Ade & now Gray. Not happy!

More to the point, how come every other club in this division doesnt suffer from stalemate? Charlton certainly didnt, and dont tell me we could not have found a player by now and forked out our own £1.5 million

Well as an eternal optomist (does help when you're a Burnley fan eh!) I'm hoping OC gets in Riordan(valued at £1 million) and Whelan (valued at £500,000). If the Boards maths is up to scratch that makes £1.5 million!!!!!! £1.5 million in = £ 1.5 million out! Or am I being far too optomistic?????

Sorry to hear the bad news, just hope you can find a good replacement.

Alan Lee now favourite to replace Gray according to local papers-see article

gray wanted to leave, you can't blame him if he double his salary, wouldn't you change jobs for twice the money?? he can still f*** off tho, we dont want players here how dont want to play here. OC said the same thing on the official site but a little more polite than me.

Did he want to leave just because of the salary? If we were that ambitious and determined to get promotion being only 4 points off the play-offs, we should have doubled his salary at Burnley & reviewed the situation in Summer 08. Now we are left with uncertainties and a new replacement will need time to settle IMO. You are right though, no loyalty in football anymore

Sounds like they are too scared to break their wage structure, Gray comes out of this badly as does his agent but we are the losers in all this, yet again!
