Rumour Mill-Jones Crewe

It would appear Crewe are interested in taking back Steve Jones to Crewe Alexandra according to Radio Lancs.

The winger has not had the best of times recently for the Clarets. He has been accused by some fans as looking disinterested and his form does appear to have suffered with the boo-boys chanting getting noticeably louder in recent times

No doubt some fans will be hoping for this to happen, I wont!

Well I think it's time for him to move to pastures old! Get some cash to replace him with someone who is willing to play with conviction week in week out not whenever they feel like it!
AccyClaret
Radio Lancs now saying Alex are after a loan deal not a cash offer
turfmanphil
Well maybe a trip out might kick start him??
AccyClaret
I suppose it depends how many are left in the squad come end Jan! Jones is better than nowt if injuries/suspensions kick in and maybe this is just a form issue! Still I suppose if he goes out on loan there will be an emergency recall clause in the deal

Good player Jones, We (QPR) were after him when you got him, gutted when you got him. Not sure he's having the best of seasons though is he; might need a kick up the jacksee!
Boxer
Yep, unfortunatley i've not got a big enough boot!
AccyClaret
I always get the impression he would prefer to be part of the strike pairing, perhaps playing just behiind and assisting rather than out on the wing but I might be wrong. If I recall for Crewe he didnt score much but had one of the highest assists records in the Championship. Cant explain his sudden disinterest and lack of motivation unless related to above but at the moment a rocket of Apollo proportions wouldnt go amiss!

The latest take on things from Vital Crewe:"Former Alex striker Steve Jones is set to return to Gresty Road in a loan deal from Burnley. The 30 year old left the Alex in May 2006 after five successful years at the Alex. After his £75,000 move from Leigh RMI, he went on to make 122 league starts in a red shirt and played a vital part in the 02/03 promotion campaign, scoring 13 goals. He left the Alex for Burnley in 2006 after turning down various new contract offers from Crewe, but despite a good first season at Burnley he has failed to get into the team for this season. Jones, who can play upfront and on either wing has now agreed a one month loan deal and the Alex are just awaiting the green light from Burnley for the move to go ahead."

Sporting Life:"Burnley boss Owen Coyle is considering an offer from Crewe to take winger Steve Jones on loan. Jones, 31, spent five years at Gresty Road between 2001 and 2006 and Coyle will spend this weekend mulling over his decision. The Clarets manager, who is poised to lose leading scorer Andy Gray to Championship rivals Charlton, said: "Crewe have made an approach to take Steve on loan and it is one we are thinking about over the weekend." Jones has made 19 appearances this season for Burnley, making just two starts. "
