Rumour Mill-Whelan Bid Upped?

Rumour Mill-Whelan Bid Upped?

The Clarets according to tonight's local paper, the Lancashire Telegraph could put in a fresh offer for Sheffield Wednesday winger Glenn Whelan.

Burnley put in a confirmed bid last week believed to be in the region of £400,000.

The Owls are believed to want around £500,000 for the 23-year-old, former Republic of Ireland Under-21 International.

The player will also be available on a free in the close season.

Burnley gaffer, Owen Coyle has confirmed that there hasn't been a fresh bid, but he also doesnt appear to have ruled out the possibility.

In these days of inflated transfer fees, worth more than half a million. If he wasn't coming to the end of his contract, you'd not be in with a sniff of getting him for 500k. We'll see.

We do seem keen, he better be good after all this fuss, whats the lowdown on the player, AO? His he an out-and-out winger or does he have general midfield skills too? I keep seeing him quoted as both winger & midfielder although technically I suppose they are one and the same these days
