Clarets Whelan Bid Rejected

The Owls rejected a bid from Plymouth Argyle for the services of the 23-year-old Irishman,Glenn Whelan this week and a similar response has now been handed-out to the Clarets boss,Owen Coyle.

Whelan is out of contract this summer and could then leave Hillsborough on a free transfer.

According also to BBC Radio Sheffield it is understood that the Clarets bid was significantly higher than Plymouth's earlier in the week.

Glenn Whelan, who is 24 this Sunday has made 139 league appearances for the Owls after signing for them in 2004.

Brian Laws is quoted as saying on the Owls Official Website:

'I can confirm that we have received a bid from Burnley for Glenn Whelan but it is certainly not an offer that interests us at this time and we have turned it down accordingly.'

Chuffing hell, another one bites the dust! Come on Owen!

We have to seek the right players in order to claim a place among the play-offs clubs . Unfortunately the player in question is kept under close doors and unattainable .We have to seek other avenues .

There is a strong rumour circulating around tonight that we have increased our offer for Whelan and we could be signing him tomorrow (Mon 13th). I wont hold my breath though!
