Rumour Mill-Riordan Relapse

Celtic are now demanding a fee in the region of 1million before they will release of out-of-favour striker, Derek Riordan. This is the latest gossip provided in the Daily Mail

It would appear that Burnley had also earlier put in a loan bid for the 24-year old striker but had this turned down.

Owen Coyle is understood to have wanted Riordan who is 25 this week, until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent deal and was not interested in paying the full asking price at this time.

Celtic's 1 million price-tag seems excessive for a player they purchased for just 150,000 in June 2006 especially since the player as only started just two SPL games this season and is clearly out-of-favour, not featuring in the Parkhead club's plans. Celtic are understood to now be agreeable to his departure, but are seeking substantial compensation.

This would appear to rule out any interest now by the Clarets and the suggestion there may have been a link to Lafferty going the other way in part-exchange also seems to be dead in the water

Plymouth are lining up a move for Celtic's Derek Riordan, but face competition from Burnley for the striker. (Daily Mail)

I don't think that 1 million is realistic!!!! Are Celtic inflating his price in a crude bid to get Lafferty in a swap deal????

Did occur to me!

i think celtic have tried to hatch a cunning plot to get kyle. 80110X celtic, he's ours

It certainly seems that way doesn't it! Well we'll have to see where this one goes, Lafferty is out for 4 games and if this Riordan is any good maybe a good deal could be reached! But I would expect Riordan and some cash at least for Lafferty!
AccyClaret
No way, Lafferty will NOT go to Celtic. it was him trying to generate hype because he is a fan of the club. I rate Riordan as a better player and if Lafferty did come, which he wont, he would deff be back-up only with a start only in cup games if even that. can u see Lafferty in the squade against Barca? thought not
Werd
He scared Arsenal on Sunday and he does do well for Northern Ireland, hes still a little eager and raw in my opinion, and often goes for glory when a simple pass or tap in would have been better! This question is more about potential, and I think he does have that, and the longer he stays the more his value will go up

Theres loads of potential in the lad!!! Hope he doesn't go but we could do with a sharp shooter!
