Varga-Its a Burnley Loan

The Clarets have their first new face of the January window with the news that Stanislav Varga has joined on loan for at least one month.

The 35 year old centre back completed his move to Turf Moor in time for him to be eligible for our FA Cup match against Arsenal this weekend

Owen Coyle said: 'I have known him for years, both from when I played against him and during my time as a coach and manager.

'In the light of our injuries and suspensions, he will bring a physical presence to the backline.'

Coyle continued: 'I'm delighted to get Varga on loan. I'm sure he will compliment the squad and have a big impact on the team.'

It is quite clear that Varga does not feature in Sunderland's long term plans and it will be interesting to see if the former Celtic player has a much longer stay, maybe to the end of the season. He has not played a first-team match for Sunderland this season so all Clarets will be hoping he will be matchfit and raring to go!

He will be given squad number 24

Oh heck, who do we play tomorrow? Comment from Vital Sunderland Editor:Vital Sunderland Says Varga is a top class defender on his day I think Keane hasn`t considered him this season because of his sheer lack of pace. He could be a liability against the likes of Ronaldo and co.

Well apart from that mistake for eduardo's goal, he didn't look to bad at all!! maybe lacking a little pace but i'm sure with match fitness he'll help us immensely in his month here!
