Rumour Mill-Stanislav Varga

Radio Lancs have announced the news that Stanislav Varga may be coming to Turf Moor. The first Owen Coyle signing if this is finalised.

Stanislav Varga joined Sunderland for the second time in August 2006, three-and-a-half years after leaving the Stadium of Light.

The 35 year old, Slovakian defender completed a two-year deal with the Black Cats from Celtic.

Varga is a tall, towering centre-back and was recruited by Peter Reid for £650,000 from Slovan Bratislava during the summer of 2000.The first time round he played 33 times for Sunderland before moving to Celtic but also had a spell on loan at West Brom towards the end of Season 2001-2

He has over 50 caps to his name for the Slovakian National team and has captained the side on a number of occasions

if we are signing players of his age, regardless of whether they are good or not, then i think we are going backwards. we signed "old men" under stan, steve c started to bring the age of the squad down, unsworth aside, and now a 35 year old defender. i hope he's a special talent.

Caldwell just been on and now they say Coyle on tomorrow with Andy Gray. Coyle tape suggets he wants 2-3 in to freshen team up and has 'feelers out' nowt definite and nothing on Varga

Now that Varga is already a Burnley loan signing ,he will help to bolster the defence .Arsenal with all their ammunition will find hard to contain this solid defence .
