Closed Door with the Bolton!

Defender and Hungarian Under-21 side captain, Zoltan Kovacs was one triallist hoping he had done enough to impress gaffer, Owen Coyle during a recent 'hush-hush' friendly held behind those mysterious closed-doors as we played Bolton Wanderers and secured a 1-1 draw at Gawthorpe in midweek!

Ostensibly this was a match to test the fitness of captain, Steven Caldwell returning from an injury, but Owen Coyle appears to have used the match to look at a few triallists ahead of the January transfer window about to open.

The 21-year old, Zoltan Kovacs recently extended his contract with his club side Gyori ETO before travelling to Blighty but Burnley appear to be considering whether to make him an offer.

Kovacs agent Vasile Miriuta would not be surprised if Burnley pursued their interest further and is quoted as saying

'Zoltan is a young and talented player with Under 21 international games behind him - that's why he received an invitation from England,' Miriuta told Gyori's official website.

'He travelled to Burnley this Monday, he has attended training each day and on Wednesday he could show his abilities in a friendly game.

'Zoltan comes back to Hungary on Friday - by that time we are going to know more about Burnley's plans about him.'

Slovenian born, 27 year old, Croatian international Srebrenko Posavec was another donning the Claret & Blue shirt. He currently plays for NK Slaven Belupo in the Croatian league.

Posavec is an attacking midfielder not averse to playing up front, although he prefers the left side of midfield. He has also been capped once by Croatia.

There were another two unnamed mystery men in this friendly but one person who was also trialled it would appear was Irish right back Seamus Coleman, currently with Sligo Rovers from the Eircom League.

I wonder if the two unnamed players had any Scottish connections? One from Dundee United and one from Celtic maybe?

All exciting stuff though and it could be an interesting New Year as the January window finally opens
