Coyle unwinds about Clarets Link
Owen Coyle, the former Bolton player and current manager of Scottish First Division club,St.Johnstone appears to be cynical concerning speculation linking him with the vacant managerial position at Turf Moor.
A number of local Lancashire papers suggested the board were interested in the Scottish born, former Republic of Ireland international
Coyle said, "It`s the first I`ve heard of that. If there are reports elsewhere linking me I know nothing about them. It goes without saying I`m totally focused on St Johnstone."
Owen Coyle led the Saints to the semi-finals of the CIS and Scottish cups and along the way claimed the scalp of Rangers. The club also nearly got promoted to the SPL but lost out to Gretna with the final kick of the ball.
Coyle is now regarded as one of the best young managers in Scottish football.
St Johnstone are currently third in the Irn-Bru Scottish First Division table confirming last season was not a fluke.
According to 'The Courier' a Scottish online website, Coyle signed a contract extension at McDiarmid Park over the summer, after Motherwell looked at him to replace Maurice Malpas. This could mean the Saints would be due around £150,000 compensation should he leave the club with three years left on his contract.
