Alastair Campbell promotes Trust

Alastair Campbell promotes Trust

Those of you who bought the Crystal Palace Match Day magazine yesterday may have seen our famous Claret, Alastair Campbell say some kind words about Clarets Trust and why he supports the organisation.

Vital Burnley FC, itself a proud supporter of Clarets Trust reprint his article below and hope in particular many will heed his words at the end and help the Trust achieve its aims and ambitions. If you would like to join Clarets Trust please visit their website (www.claretstrust.com) for details on how to join up or contact the Editor of this site

Alastair writes:

' I am a big supporter of the Trust movement, as a way of getting supporters closer to clubs at a time when, at the top level in particular, many feel a growing separation.

If you visit their website at www.claretstrust.com you will see from the tone of the material there that their driving goal is to do what they can to support and strengthen Burnley Football Club. So whether it is sponsoring young players , responding to the manager's appeal for exercise bikes or building up membership and finances, it is always with a view to helping, not just carping and complaining as many are want to do.

The Trust has developed good relations with the board and club officials, which is important if the relationship is going to work for the long term.

There are 130 such Trusts in football and rugby and Burnley's is relatively young, but growing. The aims are simple-to buy shares and so promote supporter involvement, to give the supporters a real voice in the running of the club and to promote the club within the local community. I think we can all sign up to those'
