Manager Says-Burnley 2-2 Blackpool

The Clarets gaffer, Steve Cotterill felt a draw was a fair result in the Lancashire derby against Blackpool at Turf Moor which ended 2-2.

He said: 'I think that a draw was a fair result. We didn't do enough to win and I felt that we weren't good enough. We looked like we were a couple of gears down and the players that played midweek, like Graham Alexander and Michael Duff looked a peg or two down certainly in the first half.'

'Two individual mistakes cost us but it's a team game and we let the ball come into our penalty area far too easily. What happens sometimes leaves a bitter taste.

'We weren't good enough today and that's why we didn't win. We need to do better collectively, generally our defending was pretty good but we haven't defended well as a team.'

Steve continued:

'Sometimes you make a couple of substitutes and they work but next week I may put two on that people say were the wrong choices so I won't be taking the plaudits.

'I thought in patches we played some good football. But I think at times we have to defend as a team and we didn't do that today. But I have no problem with the point because it was the fair result.'

These are fair points from Steve, we must however start to learn how to finish teams off when we are one goal to the good (or even 2 up which happened twice against Colchester before being pegged back in each case). We seem to relax and let them start coming at us.

Still we are now 10th with a game in hand and only five points off top spot
