Jepson loses Gills

Gillingham gaffer Ronnie Jepson has resigned.

The Gills have lost five of their first six games of the season so maybe its not surprising.

The former Burnley coach tendered his resignation to Gillingham chairman Paul Scally this Sunday morning, following his teams 3-0 League One defeat at Southend yesterday.

Gillingham are currently third from bottom of League One and have taken just three points in five league games this season

Jepo had been in charge at Gillingham since November 2005 after replacing Neale Cooper as manager.

The Kent club have not exactly taken the league by storm after their relegation, finishing 14th and 16th in the League One table during the two years Jepson was in charge.

Jepson was previously assistant manager to Cooper and Stan Ternent, having also been coach under Stan at Turf Moor. Stan Ternent of course just failed to keep Gillingham in the Championship.

Huddersfield were interested in Jepson but were denied permission to speak to him in March 2007.

During his playing career Jepo spent three years with Huddersfield and also played for Port Vale, Peterborough, Preston, Exeter, Bury, Oldham and of course the Clarets.
