'I thought we played very well today and I actually think 3-2 probably flattered them a bit, said the Clarest gaffer,
'It was a game we deserved to win and the only disappointing thing is that we didn't keep a clean sheet.
'The other slight disappointment is that we didn't score five goals, which we deserved.
'That gives us a good boost going into the two-week break now. That's unfortunate because we could have done without it. But to be in the top half of the table on six points and with a game in hand at home is okay.'
Graham Alexander also made his Clarest debut yesterday in a midfield role rather than his normal right back position. Steve Cotteril had this to say about the former Preston captain.
'Graham gave me exactly what I expected. He has played in there before and I wouldn't have put him in there if I thought it was going to be something he couldn't deal with.
'He can and I thought he was first class. He was a steadying influence, doing the simple things well and we just have to get him a bit fitter now so that he doesn't come off with cramp.
'He is getting a little bit of stick for coming off for that. However, he had a young man alongside him in Chris McCann, who I thought was outstanding.
'Having people run forward into the box is always dangerous and we were pleased Chris managed to do that today, especially for the penalty.'
The gaffer is absolutely right about Alexander and especially McCann. The young midfielder probably had his most confident and commanding game in sometime.
