Jordan on Jordan and Burnley

New signing from Manchester City,Stephen Jordan has no qualms about the competition he might face for a place in the team with Jon Harley, regular left back last season for the Clarets.

However having said that, in recent friendlies both Jordan and Harley have been tried in different positions. Jon Harley in particular has been tried in left midfield on the wing, and maybe this is a position that best suits Harley and a role he could make his own avoiding the left-back competition with Jordan.

The 25-year old Jordan was also tried out at centre half in the Clarets' pre-season friendly against Prefab Modelu the first of the friendly games in Austria this week.

The experiment seemed to work with Jordan making an ideal partner for Caldwell in the centre of defence. This might be giving gaffer, Steve Cotterill some headaches choosing the back four to play against WBA in the opening game of the season next Saturday. The options though can only be good for the squad in the long-run and its a pleasurable experience for the fans to know we now have these options and cover.

However Jordan appears to be relishing the potential competition with fellow left back Jon Harley.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph he is quoted as saying:

'Competition is good. If you're on your own, you can get a bit lazy and think you've got the position to yourself, but Jon's a good, experienced player, should it should be good for the team,'

Speaking about his move away from Manchester City in his first transfer of his career, Jordan said:

'I suppose it was a surprise when I left, because I had a clause in my contract where if I played 30 games, I'd get a new one, and I played the games, but the club ummed and ahhed' about it for almost half a season.

'When it came towards the end of the season when I was going to be out of contract, they offered me a deal I wasn't happy with.

'I suppose I did feel let down, because I played 62 games for the club and was involved a lot in the last two seasons.'

Stephen though appears to be settling in well at Turf Moor

'I'm settling in very well,' he told the LT

'When I met the manager and I liked him straight away, his honesty, and just the way he comes across.

'I think we can do pretty well this year.'

Lets hope so Stephen, and welcome aboard the Claret & Blue ship
