'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Burnley 4 Jordan 1

Steve Cotterill signed former Manchester City defender Stephen Jordan on a free transfer today in a three-year deal. The 25-year old became the fourth new face of the close season to be added to the squad.Jordan also started training with his new team mates today and could make his Clarets debut on Tuesday night in the friendly at Wrexham.

The lad can play either at left back or as a left-sided defender and will provide some interesting competition with current regular left back,Jon Harley fighting for his place.

Stephen Jordan was released by Manchester City during the summer having come through their Academy ranks. He first became a feature of City's first team squad during Spring 2003 before making his full debut in the Premiership against Norwich in November 2004.

The gaffer had this to say about the deal

'We are delighted to have Stephen on board. He was one of the first players that I spoke to in the summer and it has taken a long time to land him due to there being a fair bit of interest from the Premiership.

'But I think with coming towards the start of the season, Stephen decided he did not want to wait around any longer and has decided to come to Burnley Football Club.

'As I said, we are delighted to have him and he will give us good competition and extra defensive cover.

'When Wayne Thomas tweaked his back on Friday, we were down to our last four, fit defenders.'

Clarets fans will also be cheered by the news that it would appear we have not yet finished in the transfer window.

Steve Cotterill told the Official Site

'We are still searching for two other positions, one of which is the widely talked about right back area.

'But there is a distinct lack of right backs available, even at the top level and the fees that are being commanded for defenders is unbelievable'

So it just needs a little 'Patience' and all of a sudden its 'Take That'! Four new faces on the books with another couple possibly coming before we start 2007/8. Yes, all very encouraging.
