'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Burnley Rumours-Matthew Pattison

Matthew Pattison was born in South Africa and moved to England with his family when he was 11 before joining the Newscastle United Academy when he was 14.

The stocky midfielder made the reserve team with a debut against Everton on 20 August 2003.

He has already established a good goals per game ratio whilst at the club.

He played in a first team friendly at Celtic in August 2004. However he sustained a serious cruciate knee injury in training a few weeks later writing off his 2004/5 season. The lad known as Matty to his mates then injured the same knee again in May 2005.

He signed a new contract with Newscastle on 20 December 2005 up until the end of 2007/08

He finally made his first team debut as a substitute against Everton (Again!) on 25 February 2006.

The Sunday paper also suggests that Sheffield Wednesday are interested in the 20-year old as well as the Clarets. Burnley were also linked to this lad in the January window, so maybe there is some truth in this rumour
