Leeds Loom!

Most Clarets fans have been having a slight titter about the demise of Leeds this season!

The once 'great' (according to Leeds fans) Club now languish in League 1 after a torrid season that saw relegation to the third tier and an annoucement of administration that cynically wiped out debts and avoided a 10 point penalty for next season. The already relegated Leeds (apart from a mathematical miracle)therefore decided an early administration announcement wouldnt be too much hardship as they finished bottom by having the ten points deducted for 2006/7 instead!

I suppose the Clarets hearts have a right to gloat, although the head will be saying that losing a fixture like Leeds home and away next season will be bad for business with lost revenues!

Lets face it we will also lose out on some good banter amongst 'friendly' local rival fans with a slight ceasation in the Wars of the Roses' bi-seasonal hostilities!

This may have been the reason why behind the scenes the two clubs have agreed to play a pre-season friendly at Turf Moor.

The White Rose mob will travel across the Pennines to face the Clarets on Saturday, July 28 (kick off 3pm).

Burnley's now have quite a busy pre-season schedule in England, before they swan off to Austria in late July

Accrington Stanley (A) on Saturday, July 14 (KO 3pm).

Wrexham (A) on Tuesday, July 17 (KO 7.30pm).

Middlesbrough (H) on Saturday, July 21 (KO 3pm).

Bradford City (A) on Tuesday, July 24 (KO 7.45pm).

Leeds United (H) on Saturday, July 28 (KO 3pm).

The Clarets end their pre-season schedule with a trip to Austria, where they will play two games on Tuesday, July 31 and Saturday, August 4.

So bring on Leeds! What will their line up be though? How many key players will have gone? Cresswell? Healy? What fate is in store for former Clarets captain and hero, Robbie Blake? Will any current Leeds player catch the eye of Cotterill and will he sign any ahead of the 28th? All very interesting times!
