The Rumour Mill- Danny Coyne

Danny Coyne, has had a fairly turbelent stint since signing for the Clarets in the close season of 2004/5.

He was one of the first few signings that Steve Cotterill brought to the club in his first season as manager after the departure of Stan Ternent. It was made clear that Coyne would be given the No 1 keeper role ahead of stalwart, Brian Jensen. He has retained the Number One squad number now for three seasons.

In practice,it hasnt really worked out that way on the pitch and Coyne has fallen prey to a number of long term injuries including cruciate problems and has been unable to make any consistent inroads into establishing himself as the natural first choice goalkeeper over 'The Beast'

This season he has only featured in 12 matches and now that the gaffer has patched up his differences with Jensen, originally on the transfer list back in January, Coyne has again taken a back seat on the bench for the past six matches!

Coyne's contract is up for renewal in the close season and its widely believed by the fans that he will be out of contract and available for transfer. The manager of course is remaining tight-lipped on the situation but the 'News of the World' today suggests that Norwich are showing some interest in the Welsh International.

It remains to be seen whether this paper gossip contains any truth but either way the feeling is that Danny's days are numbered at Turf Moor.
