It was a bad time for Brian Jensen in January this year when it was announced that Mike Pollitt would be arriving from Wigan as a new loan goalkeeper. The gaffer instantly preferred Polly over 'The Beast' who was relegated to the bench whilst Danny Coyne was still recovering from injury.
This appeared to annoy 'The Beast' so much that he stormed into the manager's office asking for a transfer request and the gaffer duly accepted.
There were rumours of a falling out and all Clarets fans were wondering if we had seen the last of Jensen.
No offers appeared to come in and the January transfer window closed with 'The Beast' still on the books.
Mike Pollitt meanwhile featured in goal for four matches before being recalled by Wigan due to their own goalkeeper injury problems.
By this time, Danny Coyne had recovered from his injury and featured in the next seven League matches with Jensen not even named on the bench until the Preston match at Deepdale on 17th March.
A number of Clarets fans were not convinced about Coyne's performance and he appeared to make a number of errors including one particular howler against Palace. Clinton Morrison was allowed to loop a header over the advancing keeper into the net after Palace keeper, Kiraly had managed to get the ball to somehow bounce over the whole of the Clarets defence.
The manager didnt seem to heed the request from the fans as Danny Coyne retained his place until the surprise reappearance of Jensen in the Luton match last Saturday and again in the Tuesday night match against Plymouth in both cases with Coyne relegated to the bench.
Most fans were by now believing that maybe they had patched up their differences and this has been confirmed today with the news that 'The Beast' has been taken off the transfer list.
The gaffer had this to say about the news:
'I felt that earlier in the season, as I said, that Brian hadn't been keeping us in the game enough,
'After I left him out, in a game where I felt he deserved to be taken out of the firing line, he had the hump about it.
'I said 'well, is it not alright for me to have the hump when goals are going in that I don't think should?
'That was the crux of it, but he is off the transfer list now because he apologised.
'Brian wanted to come off and to be fair to him, he has absolutely trained his socks off since he's been out of the team.
'In all of that you have to be man enough to accept what has gone on. He's come back in the team now and done very well.'
Welcome back Brian, now the gossip has started as to whether Welsh International, Coyne, who is out of contract in the Summer will now be retained for at least another season.
