Lafferty joins Quakers on loan

Burnley have allowed young forward Kyle Lafferty to join Darlington on a months loan.

Lafferty is highly rated by Clarets manager Steve Cotterill, and the move to the Quakers will give him valuable experience, aiding his development at Burnley.

Belfast born Lafferty has made a couple of substitute appearances this season for Burnley, and has also represented his country at under 17 and under 20 levels so far in his career.

'It will be good experience for him - he needs that to toughen him up a little bit now,' said Cotterill.

'We're pleased with that, and we hope he goes and does well for them.

'It's league football, and that can only do him good.'

Lafferty joined the club as an apprentice in 2004, and has made strong impressions in the youth and reserve sides, and this move will give him experience for when he breaks into the first team.

In December 2005, the 6ft 4' forward signed a three year contract that runs through to the summer of 2008.
