'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Right Back Where We Were!

Manager Steve Cotterill is pleased that Wayne Thomas is making good progress following a knee cartilage operation last week.

Thomas was injured during the 0-0 draw against Colchester at Layer Road last month.

'Wayne Thomas should be jogging today. He's a tough lad and hopefully he can come through this,' said Cotterill.

'He's had a tough season for one reason and another but hopefully taking the captaincy off him has lightened the load a little bit.

'I felt he put in some good performances before the injury and for me it looked like the supporters were getting back to forgiving him a little bit, which I was really pleased with.

'He is a good lad who does some stupid things, probably like we all do, but he's had a tough year and hopefully he'll get his form back and be in the team before the end of the season.'

Steve Cotterill however also admitted that he did enquire about the possibity of signing a right-back so the good news on Thomas is probably just as well since the move fell through.

Cotterill explains 'We were looking at bringing in a right-back which has been a problem for us. There has been a certain player which I have been after since the transfer window and probably before,' added Cotterill.

'If I was to tell you the player or name the club, you could see why we perhaps haven't got him. I don't think between now and the end of the season that we will get him.

'That was a bit of a dampener last week because I really thought around Thursday that I might get him. That will be a no go now though and Wayne should be there or thereabouts soon anyway. '
