Pope - Confidence Remains High At Burnley

Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope has said confidence in the group hasn't been effected as our winless run now stretches to six Premier League games.

A one nil defeat at Crystal Palace last weekend extended our search for a win to six matches, but speaking to the Official Site this week as we prepare for the next encounter, Pope said confidence remained high because the players knew they were performing okay, we just needed to be more clinical.

He also felt we could more than take the positives of securing draws against Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur during that six game block.

'We`re not playing badly at all, nothing like that. We just keep plugging away, working hard in the week and then go again against Manchester United next week. It can happen to anyone. It`s a good league. You never get an easy game. We`ve known that even on a good run - even when we hit the top four. The same again next week. It won`t be easy and we won`t have an easy one all season. We all know that and we just have to prepare and be ready for next week. To go on this sort of run and not a drop place, almost, shows how well we started the season and we`ll do our best to recover that form.'

Having been denied his eleventh clean sheet of the season with Palace finding the back of the net, but Pope felt that with our second half performance we could've taken something from the game.

'You can`t play well all the time. The first half wasn`t the best from us, but we stayed in the game, like we`re quite good at doing. We had a right go second half but unfortunately couldn`t quite get the goal. We stuck at it, knowing that we weren`t playing well and we are better than that. We gathered our thoughts at half-time, had a chat from the gaffer and went again and came out stronger.'

That kind of attitude will be key when we welcome Jose Mourinho's side to Turf Moor, but despite the run of six without a win we remain in seventh place in the table, only bettered on points by the so called 'big six'.
