Tarkowski Accepts FA Charge

Tarkowski Accepts FA Charge

Having been charged by the Football Association for an alleged incident of violent conduct, Burnley defender James Tarkowski yesterday accepted that charge and he will serve a three match ban with immediate effect.

The 25 year old was charged after an incident which saw him swing his arm into Brighton striker Glenn Murray during last Saturday's scoreless draw.

He will now miss matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Huddersfield Town, coming back into contention for the tie against Liverpool on January 1.

Having accepted the charge, Tarkowski did appeal the length of the ban but that was rejected.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Sean Dyche said.

'I think it must be pointed out we don't condone that action. At the time I was annoyed with Tarky because it's not like Tarky and it's not like us. But retrospectively, having seen it afterwards, the reason we're a bit surprised is that you can clearly see Glenn Murray grab his hand and that hand now has five pins it and a metal plate. I would suggest an action causes reaction. We put that to the panel, but they decided not and that it shouldn`t be reduced.'

He went on to say.

'What I think has to be looked at, is that this incident can't be deemed the same as some we see and put in the same bracket and therefore three-game bans. I think that has to change. I think it`s a reaction to an action. He should not react like that - that's clear - but to get a three-game ban like that is disappointing, particularly in the same game when someone at the other end of the pitch is diving on the floor and gets nothing.'

As for his hand injury, that has now been operated on to repair bone a fracture which he suffered when falling arkwardly earlier in the game as he conceded the penalty to Murray.

Credit to Tarks for accepting the charge. A pity the FA do not take provocation into account. the adrenaline is running high, unlike the sober mood in a committee room where rational decisions can be made and even are then frequently wrong. Nuff said. Merry Christmas to all Clarets.
