Instant Reactions - Brighton v Burnley (16/12/17)

Following today's clash between Brighton and Burnley, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Brighton hosted Burnley at the Amex Stadium on Saturday December 16, with both sides playing out a scoreless draw on the day.

The hosts had the better of the first half, hitting the woodwork and Glenn Murray missed from the penalty spot during the game, however it's fair to say Burnley had the better of the second period.

The points were ultimately shared in what was the first top flight meeting between the sides.

Teams:

Brighton:

Ryan, Bruno, Duffy, Dunk, Bong, Propper, Stephens, Knockaert (Izquierdo 83), Gross (Brown 75), March, Murray (Hemed 63).

Substitutes:

Kayal, Goldson, Schelotto, Krul.

Burnley:

Pope, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Berg Gudmundsson, Cork, Defour (Barnes 68), Arfield, Hendrick, Wood (Vokes 81).

Substitutes:

Lowton, Westwood, Wells, Lindegaard, Long.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Chris Kavanagh blew the final whistle, Brighton manager Chris Hughton explained.

'On the balance of play we were far better than them for long periods. Everyone misses a penalty now and again. Glenn is reliable and what we look for more is an all-round performance. If we had scored it would have released the pressure of having not scored many recently and we might have got a couple more. Burnley are in the best form they've probably ever been in and it was a tough test today.'

Burnley manager Sean Dyche in his comparative interview explained.

'It's a good point and to have three straight clean sheets and seven points from our last three games in the Premier League is very pleasing. They are on a tough run and made a few changes from in the week. My players are putting in a monumental amount of effort and we have to earn the right to compete in every game, including here at Brighton.'

Great point in my opinion. It was one of those penalties some Refs would give some wouldn't Kavanagh chose to award it. But hey they missed and Burnley fans could rightly say "justice" was done. Our fans could point to our disallowed goal being also being a close decision that went against us. Most of us expected Wood to score on a one to one with the keeper. he didnt. Brighton were all over us in the first half though, so taking in the ninety minutes i'm happy with a point that keeps us in the top 6.
