Instant Reactions - Burnley v Arsenal (26/11/17)

Following yesterday's clash between Burnley and Arsenal, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Burnley hosted Arsenal at Turf Moor on Sunday November 26 and the visitors took a one nil victory courtesy of a stoppage time penalty strike from Alexis Sanchez in the 92nd minute.

Not only was the game a repeat of last season's clash at the Emirates where the Chilean international scored in stoppage time from the penalty spot (98th minute), it's now the third straight time Arsenal have bettered Burnley by hitting a stoppage time winning.

Teams:

Burnley:

Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Ward, Berg Gudmundsson, Defour (Wood 78), Cork, Brady, Hendrick, Barnes.

Substitutes:

Vokes, Westwood, Lindegaard, Bardsley, Long, Arfield.

Arsenal:

Cech, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Bellerin, Ramsey, Xhaka, Kolasinac, Iwobi (Wilshere 67), Sanchez, Lacazette (Welbeck 79).

Substitutes:

Mertesacker, Giroud, Ospina, Maitland-Niles, Coquelin.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Lee Mason blew the final whistle, Burnley manager Sean Dyche explained.

'It is a coupon buster. I don't think anyone would put a bet on that. I have told the players we continue to develop, we continue to move forward. I have also told them this is the reality. Football is a harsh game and sometimes it hurts you. There is a lot of me inside that is raging a lot. It was highly unlikely it was not going to get given on a day like today, that's all I will say.'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in his comparitive interview explained.

'From outside it looked 100% a penalty. I don't know why he pushed him in the back. I would like to see it again.'

He added.

'It is early, the table changes from one week to another. We wanted to win away from home and we did it. Let's focus on the next one.'

This was very cruel certainly but look at the positives. We stood toe to toe with the mighty Arsenal and could easily have come out winners. Who would have believed that not very long ago. We have indeed come a long way and will go further. Long live the SD / Clarets partnership.

Its Tuesday and I am still unhappy with how they Arsenal did for us a third time in a row. Great performance. Soft soft Penalty. Sky pundits said after the game that Ref Mason had been warned apparently he didnt give a stone wall penalty to Brighton in midweek, So they concluded Burnley suffer'd for that by going to the other extreme on Sunday.
