Pollitt Back at Wigan!

Hope there are no pollittical (sorry) ramifications here but Mike Pollitt has returned to Wigan after being recalled by Paul Jewell.

Regular Latics goalkeeper, Chris Kirkland has suffered a shoulder injury so the rationale seems straightforward with Wigan now needing keeper cover

Pollitt,34 made only four appearances for the Clarets and his loan was due to end after the match against Sheffield Wednesday this Saturday.

The question now is whether a demotivated, Brian Jensen will be back in the reckoning since he is on the transfer list or whether, more likely Danny Coyne will return to the team as first choice goalkeeper

Danny does now seem to be fit and performed well, keeping a clean sheet in this week's International for Wales against Northern Ireland at Windsor Park.

This is disappointing news though as most Clarets were hoping that there might have been a chance of a permanent deal in the Summer for Mike Pollitt and with Jensen on the transfer list this is one area that might need to be addressed now. This will most likely be in the summer if emergency keeper loans are not being considered at the moment

Sounds like he was injured anyway! GOALKEEPER CRISIS DEEPENS Wigan Athletic manager Paul Jewell confirmed today that goalkeeper Mike Pollitt returned to the JJB Stadium from Burnley last week with a thigh strain. The injury to first choice goalkeeper Chris Kirkland yesterday now means that he has only one fit goalkeeper at the club, and that is John Filan, who hasn't played a Premiership game all this season and only played 15 times during the 2005/06 Premiership campaign, having his first team status taken by Pollitt and then Kirkland. This means that Jewell will request special dispensation from Premier League and FA chiefs in accordance with League rules. Hopefully, the current battle that Jewell is waging with these 'powers that be' should not result in a negative response.

Cotterill has now said: "I've have no plans at all to bring another goalkeeper in; none at all."
