'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Steve Cotterill is Appealing!

The Football Association recently charged Steve Cotterill with using "abusive and/or insulting words towards an opposing player".

According to a number of media sources today, Steve Cotterill is set to launch an appeal against his FA charge and appears to be confident he will be successful.

Cotterill was sent to the stand in the last minute of the Clarets 1-0 defeat at Derby, following a touchline incident with former Claret and Rams defender, Mo Camara. In his post-match comments,Steve Cotterill explained: 'I took exception to Mo Camara pushing out at Kyle Lafferty, a 19-year-old kid.

'He came over and I said 'Oi Camara, what are you pushing him for?'

'I did not swear, but what will happen somewhere along the line is they will say 'use of language'.

'Is it a winnable case? No chance, because it never is and I don't know whether appealing is worth it.

'What are we going to do - take the passion out of the game? If that is what we want, then the fans won't come.

'I thought it was a passionate game all round, but did Djemba-Djemba deserve to be sent off? No. Did Billy Davies? No.'

In the same match Derby boss Billy Davies was also dismissed in a seperate incident but seemingly unfairly not subsequently charged by the FA.

Steve is now saying: 'I will appeal because I've had a few good chats with refereeing officials and Billy was sent to the stand but not charged.

'I have support from quite a few people in that area and that doesn't collaborate with the story that's been put together.

'That night was ridiculous. We've got 15 days (to appeal) and I've got to get some of my evidence together but that will be something I will appeal against.'

I guess at least he can use parity as an appeal point
