Dyche - Manchester City Is My Only Focus

Dyche - Manchester City Is My Only Focus

With plenty of speculation in the press linking him with the vacant job at Leicester City, manager Sean Dyche has insisted his only focus is Burnley's clash against Manchester City this weekend.

Making the trip to the Etihad Stadium this weekend looking to continue our own decent start to the year, Dyche knows it'll be an incredibly tough task given the form Pep Guardiola's side are in, but he insisted that the speculation surrounding his own future this week hadn't been a distraction.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media for his pre game press conference, he explained.

'I have been linked with numerous roles in numerous clubs over the last few years and I`m still Burnley manager. I have mentioned openly many times down the years, the two things that change in football is that the manager leaves for different concerns, or you get the sack.'

Dyche went on to say.

'They are the two things. Neither have happened so far. I continue to get on with the work that I do. That`s it in a nutshell. It`s a story that`s not my story. I have to answer to it - that`s fine. But it`s a story from elsewhere. My focus, I can assure you, is continue to do what we`re doing and Manchester City on Saturday. The rest is for other people to make noise about.'

With Dyche's stock rising considerably over the last few years given the job he's done at Turf Moor, it's inevitable that with two promotions and a Premier League survival cap to his name that speculation will continue, but he's coming up on five years in charge at the end of the month and it doesn't sound like he's looking for a departure.

'This is not the first time I have been linked with clubs. It shows a respect of what the team do and what my staff do. I have to lead that, of course, but I am often answering stories that are out of my hands. I just continue to work here. If things change in the future, they change. But at the moment my focus is still here and always has been.'

We are a success story. Look at where we were when SD arrived, finances, facilities, league position and prospects. Look at us now. Is it any surprise that people are sniffing round our management and players? Which manager in the Prem could have done what SD has with the Clarets on the same budget? The media, always on the look out for a story and if there is not one they will make one up, look on us as fair game. We must take it as a compliment and trust that heads are not turned. As far as Leicester are concerned they are on a downer whereas we are on the up. A tough call but hopefully we will prove it at Man City. Come on you Clarets.
