A Great Week For Gudmundsson
Having helped Iceland to World Cup qualification for the first time in their history, Johann Berg Gudmundsson has spoken of his delight at capping off the week by playing his part in Burnley's score draw with West Ham United at the weekend.
Having come off the bench at the half time break with Burnley trailing one nil on the day, Gudmundsson sent in the cross that Chris Wood converted in the 85th minute to give us a share of the spoils and extemd our unbeaten run to six Premier League matches.
Speaking to the Official Site as he met with club media on Monday to reflect on the game, he explained.
'It`s been an unbelievable week. I was happy to contribute. When I came on I tried to make a difference. The gaffer told me to go one-on-one with the full-back and get crosses in and I was happy to create the goal.'
He went on to add.
'At that stage we had three big lads in there and it was just about the getting the ball in the box and try to work from there. Woody was in there and it was a great goal. It was a good cross but Woody had to be in there and finish it off.'
With the point on the day meaning we are unbeaten since the second game of the season, Burnley sit in seventh place, level on points with fifth placed Chelsea and with Manchester City next up, Gundmundsson knows we go into the game in great confidence, but with their form this year it will be an incredibly tough task.
'They are in great form and it will be a tough game. But we have shown we can be tough against the big boys. We have had some great results, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool, so hopefully next weekend we can do the same. We have started well. Our away form has been really good. Obviously, we would like a few more points at home, but that will come and it`s a great start.'
