West Ham Confidence For Wood

West Ham Confidence For Wood

Striker Chris Wood has said that Burnley were always confident the equaliser would come against West Ham United this weekend.

Hosting the side at Turf Moor for the clash, West Ham took the early lead through Michail Antonio, but Wood himself got us back on level terms in the 85th minute.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, Wood explained that the players always had belief that we would get back into the tie especially with West Ham down to ten men.

'That`s what happens. You get a bit more space when there are more bodies and Vokesy and Barnesy made it a lot easier, stretching the game and making sure we had space in the box. It was a perfect cross, inch-perfect and it was nice to be able to finish it off. As a striker you`ve just got to keep going because there`s always going to be another chance. It`s always going to fall to someone in the box and you`ve got to make sure you`re alive. All the players are ready for that, even if it does come in the last few minutes, so we are confident we can score goals.'

The result extends Burnley's unbeaten run to six games in the Premier League and even though we've only scored twice at home, we have only been beaten once.

'Teams are coming here with a lot more respect than they used to. We have to keep working and finding ways of breaking people down and we will be onto a winner. It was a bit of frustrating one and against 10 men we could perhaps have done a bit more. But I think if the goal had come earlier in the half we would have gone on to win it.'

He added.

'Unfortunately, it didn`t and West Ham only played one way in the second half. It was tough to break them down. They camped in there really well from their perspective and it was tough. We had to work hard to break them down. But we got there in the end. We created some good chances and probably could have got more. We got a point in the end, which is a good thing. Six unbeaten is a fantastic record, which is something we`ll look to build on next weekend.'
